Does Your Home Site Need a Soil Boring?
Due
to changes in New York State building codes in 2002, many Towns and
Municipalities are requiring a soil boring and geotechnical engineering report
by a licensed geotechnical engineer in order to obtain a building permit for
new home construction or additions to an existing home. The purpose of this is
to make sure that the foundation is designed properly based on the soil type
and its bearing capacity.
Soils can be variable and not every site needs a soil boring. Earth Dimensions
Inc. has been describing soil and providing soils related consulting for over
30 years throughout the Northeast. Our knowledgeable staff of professional soil
scientists and geologists can determine what level of investigation, if any,
your home site may need. We have a great longstanding working relationship with
many local Townships and regulatory agencies which can be very helpful in the
permitting process.
